THE CNA2CRNA STORY
How It Got Started
It was DaJuan’s love for writing, wanting to be a mentor, and his journey in medicine that led him to start a blog. In his experiences in medicine he has worked as a Hospital Corpsman (HM) in the US Navy, Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Registered Nurse, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and author.
At this time he is a CRNA (66F) with the rank of Captain in the US Army Reserves as well as a Practicing CRNA in the private sector.
While in Nurse Anesthesia school DaJuan thought that his story was different from everyone that he met. He often talked to his roommate at the time about writing a book when he graduated. Being a student occupied a majority of his time. In school he spent his time concentrating on learning Anesthesia while in school and not on writing a book. Upon graduating he continued to think about being an author until one day he sat down at his computer and started the process of writing a book. He thought to himself you are either going to stop thinking about it or you are going to be an author.
DaJuan has found his passion in writing with his first book and Amazon best seller How I Survived CRNA and You Can Too! Insight on what it really takes to make it through CRNA school successfully, told by a CRNA.
This book details the life of a Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist (SRNA). With behind the scenes details of what it is like to be a SRNA, the make up of his class, the trials and tribulations of school and much, much more.
His book 1000 Things I wish I knew before Anesthesia School can be found on Amazon. This much-anticipated book explains the basics of anesthesia that will assist those that want to be a CRNA, anesthesiologist, or anyone that wants to know what nurse anesthetist do behind the surgical curtain.
DaJuan has found his calling in writing and is currently working on several projects at this time.
He is often asked by people how do I write a book and where do I start. Start with an idea and put it down on paper, computer, phone, etc. It doesn’t matter where you start as long as you get started. Sometimes I sit down and write chapter after chapter and sometimes I write one sentence. Once you start the process of writing a book stick with it and set an end date for completion.
